The band released its newest full-length album, Lower the Ghost Light, through Terminus Hate City on June 19, 2026. Across 11 songs, the album expands Solid State Radio’s cinematic approach while retaining the direct melodies and emotionally honest writing at the center of the project. The band celebrated its release at 529 with Tom Cheshire Band and Royal Thunder vocalist Mlny Parsonz.

Lower the Ghost Light follows the 2024 Solid State Radio EP and the singles “Two Little Wires,” “Laburnum Street,” and “New Romantic Rebels.” The band’s debut full-length, You Gotta Wear It, or Let It Go!, introduced its mix of indie rock, Britpop, power pop, and romantic storytelling in 2023.

Solid State Radio is an Atlanta indie rock and cinematic pop band led by singer-songwriter Randy Michael. The project began during the pandemic, when Michael returned to writing songs for himself after years spent producing and recording other artists. Alongside drummer John Speaks and keyboardist Blake Parris, he developed a sound built around strong hooks, personal lyrics, chiming guitars, and widescreen arrangements. The band describes its music as romantic but intentionally dissonant, drawing from Britpop, power pop, new wave, and the theatrical songwriting of artists like David Bowie.

Solid State Radio has performed throughout Atlanta at venues including 529, The EARL, Smith’s Olde Bar, and Star Community Bar. Touring has also taken the band to Indianapolis, Chicago, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville, with additional performances in cities including New York, Los Angeles, and Denver.
