VISERION
Viserion is a black metal band formed in Queens, New York, in 2019. Guitarist and vocalist Benedetto Marvilli, drummer Matthew Marvilli, guitarist Cris Valentine, and bassist Tasso Diakov combine the raw aggression of second-wave black metal with death metal, grindcore, and atmospheric passages. Storytelling is central to their music, with themes ranging from death and human cruelty to the histories and mythology of George R.R. Martin’s fictional world of Westeros.
The band has built its live presence largely within New York’s underground metal scene, performing throughout Queens and Brooklyn. Recent appearances include bills with Unholy Altar, Anxietatum, Satanic Magick, Fury Within, Lord of Horns, Mo’ynoq, and Valletta.
Viserion released its latest EP, Fire and Blood, through Terminus Hate City on January 16, 2026. The five-song record follows the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, using its violent history to explore madness, war, destruction, and inherited power. Recorded and produced by Billy Pfister at Westfall Recording, the EP moves between relentless black metal and darker melodic sections while incorporating death growls, shifting tempos, and elements of progressive metal.
Fire and Blood follows the 2023 release The Iron Age of Kali Yuga, created with fellow New York black metal band Teloch Vovin, and the 2022 single “Reborn in Darkness.” Viserion’s debut album, Natural Selection, arrived in 2021 and established the feral mix of black metal, death metal, and grindcore that remains at the center of the band’s sound.
